New Roses

N has been going back and forth about the roses to be planted in the front and side yards for quite awhile now; this morning I went with him to a rose place in Tampa and we finally got them ---- 9 rose bushes.

They are all floribundas on fortuniana root because N wants to do the least amount of maintenance.

We will plant six shrub roses out front:  3 Tuscan Suns, 1 Our Lady of Guadelupe, and 2 Belinda's Dream.   I think they will be lovely.

And in the side yard 1 White Prosperity, a climbing rose for the trellis, and 2 Sheila's Perfume in front of the trellis.  The Sheila's Perfume has a strong fragrance.

The roses in the back part of the trellis were planted a couple of weeks ago:  the climbing rose is Don Juan, and one of the ones in front is Double Delight --- a really lovely rose.  I forget what the other one is.

Our yard gets better and better!

PS -- some ant lion hills ... when you're down there getting close-ups of roses, you notice other things too

Yellow Hibiscus, Foggy Road, & Whimsical Cats

My cousin Wanda's hibiscus.  I think the sunlight and shadow patterns make an interesting composition...

It was foggy and misty on the road the morning that I took this pic.

Here are some whimsical cats I have done the past couple of days with my acrylics.  I like how they turned out, so I put them in my JoyceAlice2 shop.

I'm Pro Life and I VOTE

Check out this website for voting information if you are pro-life and live in Florida:

www.unitedchristiansofflorida.com

I just stumbled on to it today, and it's got information about judges on there too, as well as being well organized.  You can just click on your county and get a simple list of endorsements.

BE SURE TO VOTE "YES" ON ALL 11 AMENDMENTS, BUT ESPECIALLY
AMENDMENT 6 (no public funding of abortions)
AMENDMENT 1 (against Obamacare health care services)
and AMENDMENT 8 (religious freedom clarified)

Also of course there are the National Right to Life and Florida Right to Life websites.

Here is an excerpt from the "Pinellas County Right to Life" October, 2012 newsletter, which contains voting recommendations, but the smaller races are just for Pinellas County.

The Last of the Red Roses

N is really going to town on the yard.  He has ripped out the 2 red rose bushes in front and re-dug the flower bed and is planning to put 6 pink shrub rose bushes there --- I am hoping he'll get the David Austin even though they are just the bare root and would not even be shipped to us until Feb or March, and then take awhile to grow.  I think it would be worth the wait, but we'll see.  N is not noted for waiting --- ha!

anyway, these were the last roses from the poor little despised red rose bushes....  they were sitting on the kitchen table and the last rays of the evening sun were backlighting them, and they looked so pretty and sad that I got my camera out and took these pix  :)

100 Things #6: Two Dragons

And my List of 100 Things continues with two dragons which I inherited from my mother.  A white porcelain dragon which she bought many years ago:

And a multi-colored dragon which she hand-built herself out of clay, back when she was doing ceramics:
Isn't he cute?  Some of the "jewels" he is hoarding came from my own stash of "junk treasure" which I donated to the cause :)
