walking stick

came home from church this morning and found this walking stick in the garage
gently picked him up to carry him outside
thought I had him safely imprisoned in both cupped hands
but he's so skinny he just walked right thru a very small gap !

he doesn't hop and he pretty much stayed put

so I got my point-and-shoot and tried to take pix

discovered i cannot take pix with my left hand

but he was quite agreeable about switching to my other hand

and i did get these pix

can you see him here in the last pic?
he looks just like a piece of mulch

and speaking of "creatures" (the illustration friday word for this week)
isn't it so PLAIN that this little guy is a CREATURE?

no way he happened on his own by "evolving"
he was CREATED

Flamenco in Tarpon Springs

N & I drove over to Tarpon Springs last night and had dinner at a small Greek restaurant and then saw the "Flamenco Puro" show at the Performing Arts Center.  Pix of the show were not allowed, but I took pix of everything else!

View from our seat in the restaurant ---  I liked the design of the railing outside (circles atop vertical lines) with the horizontal lines of the window blind superimposed.

the people next to us ordered Flaming Cheese, but I wasn't quick enough with my point-and-shoot to catch the flames --- all I got was some smoke....

I had a gyro sandwich, N had pastitos.  It was a LOT to eat, I'm glad I was smart enough not to get the gyro meal!

there were some pretty pots of flowers outside the restaurant

Took a short walk in the little neighborhood surrounding the Performing Arts Center.

I think these little houses are picturesque.

somebody's Halloween decoration   :)

The Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center is inside the city hall building.  I liked how the late afternoon sun illumined the bricks on the top of the building.

this sweet little fairy statue was sitting all by itself on the front lawn

I think dark tree branches against a pale sky is beautiful.

N's patience for picture-taking wears thin quickly.  "I'm going on in."  he says.

It is dark after the flamenco.  We drive the hour home, stopping once at a Dairy Queen along the way to buy me a medium dipped cone ---- yum.

We have seen a really good performance.  A flamenco guitarist, a singer/percussionist, and 3 women dancers.  The dancers used fans, castenets, and one solo performance involved a beautiful shawl with deep fringe --- lovely.

Power Saw

My new 10" Sliding Compound Miter Saw
which I got from Harbor Freight to cut my wood blocks with.

I'd better be careful with my fingers, I think!

I did not want to pay more for a work bench to mount the saw on than I paid for the saw itself!
so I bought an end table from Goodwill for $5 and then got a 1 x 12 cut to fit the top.
Will screw the wood top onto the end table, and voila!
I will have a nice sturdy work bench to bolt the saw to.

Plan to spend this Saturday organizing the garage and figuring out how to use the saw.

Faith - Hope - Love

Made a new charm today for my Seeing Eye shop.

From 1 Corinthians 13:

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
but have not love,
I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy,
and understand all mysteries and all knowledge,
and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
but have not love,
I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and though I give my body to be burned,
but have not love,
it profits me nothing.

Love suffers long
and is kind;
love does not envy;

love does not parade itself,
is not puffed up;

does not behave rudely,
does not seek its own,
is not provoked,
thinks no evil;

does not rejoice in iniquity,
but rejoices in the truth;

bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.

Love never fails.

. . .

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

The sun was shining so cheerily through my kitchen window this afternoon I had to take a few pix.  :)
