Here are a few odds n ends:

A porcelain dragon which I found in Goodwill a couple of weeks ago for $5.
He is magic, of course.
How else could all those delicate porcelain points survive completely intact after having been shuffled around in the Goodwill glassware shelves?

Isn't this the snazziest motorcycle you have ever seen?
Saw it in the parking lot of a restaurant where we were eating a couple weeks ago.
It was driven by a middle-aged lady in a fringed leather jacket.
There seemed to be quite a roomy trunk in the back, where she put her helmet, etc.

Per N, this is a coontie palm.  We have one growing in the ground at the corner of the back stoop, and several in pots.

When I was taking out the recyclables this morning, I noticed this cool-looking seed thingie on the coontie palm.

There was like a gray fuzzy capsule thingie enclosing bright orange segmented seeds.

and while I was taking pix of cootie palm seeds, saw the hose lying all tangled up and thought it made a nice abstract pattern...

Busy Bee

Here is what I've been working on lately.  Still working on getting these listed on etsy, though  (it takes awhile!)  Most of it will be in my new (old) shop, JoyceAlice

Had a lot of fun with the tiny little pendants  --- it's a fun challenge to see what you can fit into a 1-1/4 inch square!

My submission to Illustration Friday this week:  WOBBLE

I think there must be a large safety net under this guy or he wouldn't be looking so happy!  He just looks pleasantly excited, not anxious at all.

2014 Thanksgiving

Here is my Thanksgiving card for 2014:

And I liked the list of 100 Things she was thankful for that Gennine did awhile back, and thought I would make my own list today, so here it is:

Setting the Turkeys Free! and other things

Monday I gave my 3 little great-nieces an art lesson --- it was so much fun!  Their ages range from 2 to 7, so first we read Setting the Turkeys Free, a really cute picture book about a little boy who makes a lot of hand-print turkeys and keeps them inside a popsicle stick fence, but has to set them free to save them from mean old Foxy the fox   :)

Then we made our own turkeys, only instead of finger paint we traced our hands and colored them in.  We gave them toothpick legs and an popsicle-stick fence   :)

Here is Aunt Joyce's turkey art:

I would have posted pix of Indi and Mela's pictures, but unfortunately I forgot my camera  :(

I've been doing some more jewelry, also.

Necklace is a narrow black satin ribbon with a loop knotted at either end.  Loops slip over a hammered copper spiral to fasten.

Some super lightweight geometric dangles.  I had a piece of 20 gauge sterling silver which I had messed up and discarded from another project, so I just bent it into zig-zags and really love how it turned out.  I've been wearing these every day for the past week!  I love long dangles, and these are so light I forget I even have them on.

Was doodling around with pen and ink on a small square of heavy watercolor paper.  Think these could make cute necklaces, with varnish and a bail added.

Pink Alamandas

Can't believe it's been a couple of weeks since I've posted on my blog ...  I've joined Facebook and that is taking some of my time.  Not really sure how Facebook works, and not really sure if I like it or not --- we'll see.

Anyway, today is beautiful weather!  Sunny and clear, not cool enough for a sweater but not-hot, like Florida weather ought to be -- invigorating!

Went out in the back yard this morning to help N put up a golf net, and beheld this pink alamanda growing at the corner of the house.  Took some pix because I think the shadows are as pretty as the flower itself --- and also the seed pod is so cool looking!

And here is a quick pic of my work table.  Re-did a typography wood print; made the lettering darker.  Cut wood block, sanded edges, drilled hole in back.  Next step glue print to wood, then protective coating on print and acrylic paint on back and sides.  last of all will stamp my shop name on the back!

Also did some copper and pink quartz jewelry lately:
